Their importance in Pakistan is no more than scrap paper.
Every other day in Pakistan one or the other building accident happens. Even if the roof collapses due to light rain, the trapped people get burnt to coal as a result of fire. Most of the buildings have cracks due to the earthquake. Such a situation is not seen in the civilized world. If we compare, there is no doubt that building code and bye are also required in Pakistan but it is also true that most of the laws are thrown in the Kurdish basket. Government officials sell their faith in the lure of money and against the law and buildings are erected on the basis of greed which is putting the lives of hundreds of people at stake.
Strict building regulations are in place around the world. Prior to laying the foundation of the building, several permits are required, including the nature and location of the site.
No one is qualified to build a building on his own just because he owns a place. In the same way, even after the construction of buildings, its inspection continues. At any moment, if the government officials feel that the building could be the cause of a tragedy, then the owner has to fix it, otherwise the building is sealed. Heavy fines are also imposed in this regard. In developed countries, buildings that meet their deadline are completely demolished and rebuilt. Similarly, developed countries seem to be very sensitive about the nature of the use of buildings. There are also laws on environmental pollution, noise and other undesirable situations. It is not allowed to build houses, plazas or factories everywhere.
Simply put, the developed world separates industry and the living world. On the one hand, we have the examples of the developed world. Bad news is not heard about many tall buildings including Burj Khalifa. On the other hand, we also have the situation of the beloved homeland where the tragedy of the collapse of two illegal floors of the Sunder Industrial Estate did not go unnoticed when another factory caught fire. Such accidents are now commonplace in Pakistan. The city of Lahore itself has become such an illegal and dangerous encroachment that it is impossible to count. In some residential areas, people have built houses with roofs over the streets. In densely populated areas of cities, most homes have residents and factories running together. By law, an industrial area is far from a residential area, but this is no longer the case.
Children breathe deeply in the chimneys of factories and factories where toxic fumes are emitted. This condition can lead to serious illness. Toxic chemicals from factories are now dumped in the canals that were made to irrigate the fields. Hundreds of buildings are so dilapidated that they could collapse at any moment. Yet they are fully inhabited. Buildings are not constructed according to international standards in Pakistan. 23% of buildings in Pakistan are dilapidated. Cracks have also appeared in the 13-storey Poonch House in Rawalpindi.
Similarly, the law states that it is necessary to build an emergency exit with local government buildings. This route is not commonly used, but it is constructed in such a way that in case of any accident, the occupants of the building can get out through this emergency night and rescue personnel can also enter with the help of this route.
For example, in the event of a fire in a building, elevators, stairs are filled with smoke and people die of suffocation along the way. On the contrary, the emergency exit is open, ventilated and built outside the building wall so that it does not cause any harm to the survivors. Unfortunately, there is no such emergency route in Pakistan. In our high-rise buildings, there is only one way, which is closed in an accident, there is no way to get out of the towers. As a result of the fire in the Lahore LDA building, the process of jumping from the multi-storey building and falling to the ground has been seen in live broadcasts. A similar situation has occurred in Karachi and other areas.
The structure inside Lahore is so dangerous that in case of fire, fire brigade vehicles could not reach the crash site as narrow streets and illegal balconies have blocked all avenues. Have completed Despite this, life in these buildings is in full swing and heavy traffic is passing over these bridges. In other words, Pakistanis are on the brink of death everywhere, including housing, offices, businesses and routes. No construction can take place on this site. The purpose is to ensure the presence of light and air as well as space in the event of an accident. On the other hand, we do not see that.
Basement digging culture is common in markets despite restrictions. Illegal encroachments abound across the country. Despite the approval of the map, arbitrary constructions show how much bribe government officials take. Unfortunately, those who have to deal with all these issues are busy taking advantage of their options and amassing wealth.
